Create a piece that’s truly yours with our bespoke jewellery service. Whether you’re designing a bespoke engagement ring, a wedding band or any other one-off piece — or reimagining a sentimental heirloom — our designers and goldsmiths work with you at every step, and your jewellery is handmade in our Ditchling workshop.

What is bespoke jewellery?

Bespoke jewellery — also called custom or made-to-order jewellery — is jewellery designed from scratch around you. Instead of choosing from a shelf, you work with a designer to create a one-off piece: you choose the metal, the stones and the design, and our goldsmiths make it by hand from start to finish in our Ditchling workshop.

Founded by Anton Pruden and Rebecca Smith in 1988, we've spent over thirty years turning ideas, stories and heirlooms into jewellery that exists nowhere else — and you can be as involved in the design as you'd like to be.

How much does bespoke jewellery cost?

Bespoke commissions start from £500 and range up to £10,000 or more, depending on the materials you choose, the complexity of the design and the making time involved. Your piece is designed with you and handmade by some of the UK's finest goldsmiths in our own Sussex workshop — never outsourced — and the design stage includes as many iterations as it takes to get it exactly right.

Using gemstones or gold you already own can offset the cost. You'll get a clear, no-obligation quote at your design consultation — in Ditchling, or by video call if you're further afield. We're a short drive from Brighton and about an hour from London.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does bespoke jewellery cost?

Bespoke commissions start from £500, ranging up to £10,000 or more depending on the materials, design complexity and making time involved. You'll receive a detailed, no-obligation quotation after your design consultation — and using gemstones or gold you already own can offset the cost.

How long does it take to create a bespoke jewellery piece?

The time can vary based on complexity, design intricacies, and materials used. Generally, it can take anywhere from a few weeks to a couple of months. We always recommend starting well in advance if the piece is for a special occasion.

Can I use my own gemstones or metals in the design?

Yes, absolutely! Incorporating your own materials, like gemstones from family heirlooms or gold from old jewellery, can add a personal touch to the piece — and reusing your own materials can reduce the cost.

I'm not sure what design I want. Can you help?

Absolutely! Our expert designers can guide you, taking inspiration from your stories, preferences, and any ideas you might have. It's a collaborative process. You can do this either online or in store — take a look at our book an appointment page.

What if I don't like the final piece?

We involve our clients in every step to ensure satisfaction. After the Computer-Aided Design (CAD) stage, adjustments can be made — we don't start making until you're happy with the design. Once crafted, we're committed to tweaking it until you love it.

Is it possible to remodel an old piece of jewellery?

Yes, it's a great way to give new life to an old piece. Share it with us, and we can explore remodelling it while retaining its sentimental value. Read more on our Jewellery Remodelling page.

How do I care for my bespoke jewellery?

While bespoke pieces are handmade with care, regular cleaning and periodic professional maintenance will keep them shining for years. Store them safely and avoid exposure to harsh chemicals. Explore our Jewellery Care page for more information.

Are all materials ethically sourced?

We pride ourselves on using ethically sourced materials. Sustainability and responsibility are core values in our crafting process.

Can I visit your bespoke jewellery gallery and workshop near Brighton, Sussex?

Of course! We'd love to welcome you. It's an opportunity to see where the magic happens and discuss your bespoke piece in person. You can even have a workshop tour to see where we make our jewellery.
