Take a look at some of our Bespoke Vintage Engagement Rings. As contemporary jewellery we take our inspiration from many era’s. Roman to Art Deco. Beading and pave setting bring us into victorian and edwardian times. Using a number of diamonds together they appear to encrust the surface of your engagement ring. This is achieved by a clever setting technique called pave setting where a hole is cut into the metal of the ring so the diamond can sit within it. The edges of the metal are then engraved up into beads that are pushed over the diamonds to hold them in. These little beads almost look like a tiny diamond themselves. For larger stones encased in an edged setting, the edge was beaded to break it up giving it a delicate look.
The underside of the ring was always well thought out with pierced floral or tracery inspired patterns cut into the metal. These would also often contain a hidden diamond or two.
At Pruden and Smith we use these techniques to create contemporary versions of these lovely styles. If you love your pave setting and delicate fretwork this is the style of bespoke vintage engagement ring for you.
Matching earstuds, pendants eternity rings and fitted wedding bands are also available to commission in this style. Got an old beloved ring on it’s last legs?
