Amethyst Jewellery

The most beautiful of the quartz family, amethyst glows in deep violet — and occasionally a soft green. Our handmade amethyst jewellery spans rings, stud and drop earrings, pendants, eternity rings and bracelets in silver and gold, made at our Ditchling workshop in Sussex. As February's birthstone, amethyst's regal purple makes a meaningful birthday or anniversary gift.

Choosing Amethyst Jewellery

Amethyst is the purple variety of quartz, ranging from a pale lilac to a deep, regal violet — historically a colour reserved for royalty. It's a hard, hard-wearing stone that suits both silver and gold, which makes it as practical as it is striking, and ours is set into handmade pieces at the bench in Ditchling.

Prices start at around £80 for a small birthstone earring and rise to several thousand pounds for gold eternity and Moi et Toi rings, with most pieces between £99 and £580. The collection runs across rings, stud and drop earrings, pendants, bracelets and birthstone designs in sterling silver and 9ct gold.

As the birthstone for February and the gem of the 6th wedding anniversary, amethyst is a popular choice for milestone gifts. Because everything is handmade at our Sussex workshop, we can set a particular amethyst, work with one you already own, or design something bespoke. Gold pieces carry a 10-year guarantee and silver a 2-year guarantee, with free re-polishing for life.

Frequently Asked Questions

What colour is amethyst?

Amethyst is the purple form of quartz, ranging from a delicate lilac to a deep, saturated violet. The richest purples are the most prized, and the stone occasionally appears in a soft green form too. Its colour suits both white and yellow metals.

Is amethyst a birthstone?

Amethyst is the birthstone for February and the gemstone traditionally given for a 6th wedding anniversary, which makes it a popular and meaningful gift.

Is amethyst hard-wearing?

Yes. As a form of quartz, amethyst is reasonably hard and stands up well to everyday wear, making it a good choice for rings as well as earrings and pendants. We'd suggest avoiding prolonged strong sunlight, which can fade some amethyst over time, and we're happy to clean and check any piece we've made.

Can you make bespoke amethyst jewellery?

Absolutely. We can design a bespoke amethyst piece, source a particular shade, or set a stone you already own, all handmade at our Sussex workshop. Gold pieces carry a 10-year guarantee and silver 2 years, with free re-polishing for life.
