Choosing Gold Earrings

Gold earrings are a wardrobe staple — warm, classic and suited to everything from everyday wear to occasions. Ours are handmade in solid 9ct and 18ct gold at the bench in Ditchling, in yellow, white and rose, so each pair has the colour and character you want.

Prices start at around £75 for a small gold stud and rise to £3,000 for diamond drop designs, with most falling between £160 and £680. Styles span studs, hammered hoops and drops, our signature Nugget, Bubbles and Trap designs, and pieces set with diamonds, pearls and gemstones.

Studs are the easiest everyday choice and a natural first pair of gold earrings; hoops and drops make more of a statement. Because everything is handmade, we can change the metal colour, add a gemstone, or design a bespoke pair. Gold pieces carry a 10-year guarantee with free re-polishing for life.

Frequently Asked Questions

What gold are your earrings made from?

Our gold earrings are made in solid 9ct and 18ct gold, in yellow, white and rose, rather than plated base metal. 9ct is harder and more affordable; 18ct has a richer colour and higher gold content. Most designs can be made in whichever carat and colour you prefer.

Are gold earrings good for sensitive ears?

Many people with sensitive ears find solid gold more comfortable than plated or base-metal earrings. As a rule, higher-carat gold contains less alloy, and we'd always recommend wearing earrings in fully healed piercings.

What is the difference between 9ct and 18ct gold?

18ct gold is 75% pure gold, giving a richer, warmer colour and a higher value, while 9ct is 37.5% gold, making it harder-wearing and more affordable. Both are excellent for earrings — the choice usually comes down to colour preference and budget.

Can you make bespoke gold earrings?

Absolutely. We can change the metal colour, add diamonds or gemstones, match a pair to existing jewellery, or design something entirely bespoke at our Sussex workshop. Gold pieces carry a 10-year guarantee with free re-polishing for life.
