Choosing a Curved or Shaped Wedding Band
A curved or shaped wedding band is cut to follow the line of your engagement ring, so the two sit flush together without a gap. Sometimes called fitted or wishbone bands, they're made to nestle neatly around a diamond or gemstone for a comfortable, seamless fit. Every one is handmade at our bench in Ditchling.
Prices start at around £540 for a simple wishbone band and rise to £8,999 for diamond-rich designs, with most falling between £1,400 and £2,800. Choose from plain and diamond-set wishbones, pavé and scalloped shaped bands, and organic spiky and bubbles styles, in 9ct and 18ct gold and platinum.
The best shaped bands are made to match your specific engagement ring, so we often work from the ring itself or its measurements to get the fit exactly right. We can also design a bespoke band to sit with an heirloom ring. Gold and platinum pieces carry a 10- and 20-year guarantee, with free re-polishing for life.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a shaped or curved wedding band?
A shaped (or curved) wedding band is cut with a notch or wave so it fits flush against your engagement ring, rather than leaving a gap where the diamond sits. They're also called fitted or wishbone bands, and they let your engagement and wedding rings sit together as one neat stack.
Do I need a shaped band to go with my engagement ring?
Not always — it depends on your engagement ring. Rings with a low setting can sit beside a straight band, but those with a raised or distinctive stone usually look and feel best with a band shaped to fit around them. We're happy to advise once we've seen your ring.
Can you shape a band to fit a ring I already have?
Yes. We can shape a wedding band to fit an existing or heirloom engagement ring, working from the ring itself or precise measurements so the two sit perfectly together. This is something we do regularly at our Sussex workshop.
How much does a shaped wedding band cost, and is it guaranteed?
Our curved and shaped bands start at around £540 and rise with the amount of diamond work, with most between £1,400 and £2,800. Every piece is handmade in Ditchling and covered by our guarantee — 10 years on gold, 20 on platinum — with free re-polishing for life.
