Choosing a Hinged (Cliq) Wedding Ring
Prices start at around £2,200 for a plain hinged band and rise to £6,500 for diamond-set designs, with pavé, channel-set and eternity styles in between. They're handmade in 9ct and 18ct gold and platinum at our Sussex workshop, and the mechanism is virtually invisible and snag-free in wear.
Hinged rings can be made as plain bands, diamond-set wedding rings or eternity rings, so you don't have to compromise on the design you want. Because everything is handmade we can build the mechanism into a bespoke design too. Gold carries a 10-year guarantee, platinum 20, with free re-polishing for life.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a hinged or Cliq wedding ring?
A hinged wedding ring has a small, concealed hinge that lets the band open to pass over a larger knuckle, then close securely so it sits comfortably at the base of the finger. It means you don't have to size the ring up to fit over the knuckle, so it won't spin or slip.
Who is a hinged ring best for?
Hinged rings are ideal for anyone whose knuckle is wider than the base of their finger, or who finds standard rings hard to get on and off — including people with arthritis or swollen joints. They keep the ring secure without compromising comfort or looks.
Is the hinge visible or does it snag?
No — the mechanism is designed to be virtually invisible from the outside and sits smoothly against the finger, so it doesn't snag on clothing. From the front, a hinged ring looks just like any other wedding or eternity ring.
Can a hinged ring be set with diamonds or made bespoke?
Yes. We make hinged rings as plain bands, diamond-set wedding rings and full eternity rings, and can build the mechanism into a bespoke design. Everything is handmade at our Sussex workshop, with a 10-year guarantee on gold, 20 on platinum, and free re-polishing for life.
