Opal Jewellery

Opal jewellery handmade in our Ditchling workshop — rings and stacking sets, pendants and dangly earrings that pair opal's shifting colour with yellow gold, silver and diamonds. Each piece is designed around the individual stone, so no two are alike.

Choosing Opal Jewellery

No two opals show the same play of colour, which is why we design each piece around its stone. The collection includes stacking ring sets, a vintage-style opal and diamond ring, Water Bubbles designs, forged gold and silver pendants, and dangly Nugget earrings — each one built to show its opal at its best.

Pieces pair opal with 9ct yellow gold, sterling silver or mixed metals, often alongside diamonds. Prices run from £340 for a single stacking ring to £4,800 for a full opal and gold stacking set, with most pieces between £420 and £2,800.

Everything is handmade and hallmarked in our Ditchling, Sussex workshop, and covered by our guarantee — ten years on gold and two on silver, with free re-polishing for life.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is opal suitable for everyday wear?

Opal is softer than stones like sapphire or diamond, so it rewards a little care. Pendants and earrings are well suited to daily wear; opal rings are best kept for days without heavy hands-on work, and away from knocks and harsh chemicals. With sensible wear an opal will keep its colour-play for generations.

What makes each opal unique?

Opal shows play-of-colour — flashes of green, blue, orange and pink that shift as the stone moves — and the pattern is different in every single stone. That's why we design each piece around its individual opal rather than cutting stones to fit a standard setting.

Is opal a birthstone?

Yes — opal is the birthstone for October, which makes opal jewellery a popular birthday gift. It's also traditionally associated with the 14th wedding anniversary.

Can you make a bespoke opal piece?

Yes — bespoke is at the heart of what we do. We can design around an opal you already own or source a stone for you, working with you from initial sketches through to the finished piece in our Ditchling workshop.
